How we rank power stations

Where the specs come from

Every spec is taken from the manufacturer's own product page or manual, and each product page links to its sources. If a manufacturer doesn't publish a number, we show "—" rather than guess.

Price per Wh

The lowest in-stock price we track, divided by battery capacity. It's the fastest way to see how much storage you get for your money.

Lifetime cost per kWh

Price divided by the total energy the battery can deliver over its rated cycle life (capacity × cycles to 80%). A cheaper unit with fewer rated cycles can cost more over its life than a pricier LiFePO4 one.

The size calculator

We add up each device's daily energy use, allowing 15% for AC inverter losses and 8% for DC conversion, then add a 20% reserve. Solar panels are derated to 75% of their rating and capped at each station's maximum solar input. Startup surges from motors and compressors are checked against each station's surge rating.

How we make money
